Channel Art Guide & Safe Zones
How to Download YouTube Channel Banners & Master 2560×1440 Sizing
Save uncompressed channel headers from Google's CDN and inspect responsive TV, desktop, tablet, and mobile safe-zone crops.
How to Download a YouTube Channel Banner in Full Resolution
To complete a full-resolution YouTube banner download, copy any public channel's URL (such as https://www.youtube.com/@handle), paste it into our YouTube Banner Downloader above, and click Download Banner on the Original or TV (2560px) card. Our extractor locates the raw banner hash on yt3.googleusercontent.com and serves every responsive crop without watermarks or sign-up.
On YouTube channel pages, header art is rendered inside a narrow horizontal CSS container (typically only ~170–212 pixels tall on laptops) and lacks a direct Save image as menu option. Fetching the underlying Google CDN asset reveals the full 16:9 canvas—including the top and bottom background regions normally visible only on smart TVs.
- Open the YouTube channel page: Copy the full channel link from your browser address bar, or tap More (⋮) → Share → Copy link inside the YouTube Android or iOS app.
- Paste into the input field above: Click the clipboard icon or paste your link—the tool automatically parses the channel header and displays all five resolution variants.
- Save or convert format: Click Download Banner for the native file, use the chevron dropdown to convert to lossless
PNGorWebP, or copy the image directly to your clipboard.
All 5 Extracted Banner Variants Explained (Original vs. Viewport Crops)
Google's image CDN dynamically slices and scales channel art using URL modifiers like =w2560-fcrop64=.... Our downloader generates five distinct previews so designers and channel managers can grab either the untouched master or the exact horizontal ribbon viewers see on each screen type:
| Output Card | Google CDN Parameter | Aspect / Framing | Best Practical Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Original | Base URL (no =w crop) | Uncropped upload | Recovering your full master graphic or inspecting the complete artwork uploaded in YouTube Studio. |
| TV (2560px) | =w2560-fcrop64=... | 2560 px wide slice | Ultra-crisp header banner for high-DPI monitors, brand guidelines, and desktop redesign templates. |
| Desktop (1440px) | =w1440-fcrop64=... | 1440 px wide ribbon | Simulating standard laptop channel headers and embedding in agency pitch decks or media kits. |
| Tablet (1060px) | =w1060-fcrop64=... | 1060 px wide ribbon | Checking mid-width edge cropping for iPad and tablet viewers. |
| Mobile (640px) | =w640-fcrop64=... | 640 px compact strip | Verifying tagline and logo legibility at smartphone scale. |
Official YouTube Banner Size (2560×1440) & Safe Area Specifications
Designing a YouTube channel header requires balancing one large 16:9 TV canvas with a much narrower center strip on phones and computers. Follow Google's official YouTube Studio channel art specifications to avoid clipped logos or cut-off text:
| Viewport / Rule | Pixel Dimensions | Design Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Recommended Upload Size (TV Full Bleed) | 2560 × 1440 px (16:9) | Fills smart TV screens completely; fill upper and lower areas with ambient texture or brand patterns. |
| Minimum Upload Dimensions | 2048 × 1152 px (16:9) | Smallest file YouTube Studio accepts without rejecting the upload. |
| Desktop Maximum Ribbon | 2560 × 423 px (centered) | Widest horizontal slice visible on ultra-wide desktop monitors. |
| Tablet Display Slice | 1855 × 423 px (centered) | Visible horizontal band on standard 10–13″ tablets. |
| Universal Text & Logo Safe Area | 1546 × 423 px (centered) | Critical zone: Guaranteed visible on every smartphone, tablet, laptop, and TV. |
| Max File Size & Formats | Up to 6 MB | JPG, PNG, BMP, or non-animated GIF. |
1546 × 423 px box (centered at X: 507 px, Y: 508 px on a 2560 × 1440 canvas) so nothing ever clips on iPhone or Android screens.Supported YouTube Channel URL Formats
YouTube has used four URL conventions over the platform's history. Our banner extractor accepts all four full-URL formats:
- Modern Handle URL (most common):
https://www.youtube.com/@MrBeast - Permanent Channel ID URL:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX6OQ3DkcsbYNE6H8uQQuVA - Custom Vanity URL:
https://www.youtube.com/c/ChannelName - Legacy Username URL:
https://www.youtube.com/user/Username
Tip: If you only have a video link and do not know the channel's URL yet, paste the video link into our YouTube Channel ID Finder first to get the canonical /channel/UC... link in one click.

Troubleshooting Missing Banners, CDN Cache & Copyright
- "Could not extract banner" message: Channels that have never uploaded custom channel art display a blank system bar on YouTube and have no banner file on
yt3.googleusercontent.com. - Invalid URL warning: Make sure you paste the full channel address (for example,
https://www.youtube.com/@handle) rather than awatch?v=video URL. - Recently updated banner still shows old art: Google's global CDN caches channel headers for several minutes after publishing in YouTube Studio (*Customization → Branding*). Wait 5–15 minutes and re-fetch the channel URL.
Privacy & copyright notice: Channel lookups only inspect publicly visible YouTube channel pages—no Google sign-in is required.
